The Trekker Lite by GIVI is a Monokey top case. Or a Monokey side case. Or both? The TRK35 Trekker Lite can serve as a Monokey top case as well as a Monokey side case. Your pick. Or not.
That the versatility of this top and side case knows no bounds is clear. Three of these Trekker Lite cases complete the luggage set and you can rotate them at every stop, if that is something you’d like to do. The only condition is that you use the Monokey plate. If you think three individual cases is a little over the top, you can simply order the side cases as a set.
The Trekker Lite TRK35 shares a large first part of its name with the well-known, rectangular aluminium motorcycle cases that bestow many an adventure bike nowadays, but this side case looks remarkably different. ‘More civilised’ might be a dangerous way of putting it but stating that this Trekker Lite radiates a more urban vibe than its adventurous, square near-namesake is no exaggeration at all.
The ’Lite’ part refers to the use of a lighter technopolymer as base material. This results in a rigid side case but with softer lines and an all-round lighter unit. The solid plastic is kept thin and the cross-shaped, grey accents provide a completely different style than what you’d expect when you hear the name ‘Trekker’. The grey crosses give the impression that the Trekker Lite side cases are holding on to your motorcycle for dear life.
Inside, it is simple: one storage compartment with a cross-shaped elasticated strap to keep everything neatly in place. The capacity of the storage space of every GIVI TRK35 Trekker Lite Monokey top and side case is 35 litres. That’s pretty spacious, although its low hight (depth, when you use it as a side case) won’t suffice to store most types of motorcycle helmets. That is something to consider and one of the reasons to combine the set of Trekker Lite side cases with a Monokey top case.
As per usual, GIVI installs a Security Lock mechanism on the cases, and there’s a range of optional accessories.
- Inner bag: The practical inner bag T484C is the best fit for this case. The big advantage of an inner bag is that you can take all the contents from the case in one single movement. Looking to check into a hotel, then you don’t need to take your entire case to your room. Simply take out the inner bag (with everything in it) and you’re ready to go.
- Safety lock: This case already comes standard with a safety lock. Do you have more than one case? Replace all the locks and operate them all with one single key.
- Trolley: You can easily move this Trekker Lite with the E206 trolley.
Maintenance tips: because this case is made of untreated aluminum, it requires a little more maintenance than a case made of plastic. For cleaning these cases we recommend S100 Moto Wash. NEVER use maintenance products that contain acids or other acidic agents. Such products cause dark stains which are very difficult to remove afterwards.
Watertightness: the GIVI side cases and top cases are not waterproof. They were awarded an IPX4 rating. Having the right expectations always helps prevent disappointment.
