With this HJC RPHA-12, the full-face helmet we described elaborately in the past (RPHA-11) by HJC has gained a successor that is ECE R22.06 certified. This is the most advanced ‘standard’ full-face helmet from the HJC collection and a marvellous piece of technical ingenuity.
The motorcycle helmet shell has been manufactured according to the PIM EVO method: Premium Integrated Matrix, using glass fibre, aramid and carbon fibre to result in a very lightweight (about 1,500 grams) yet solid motorcycle helmet shell. The different sizes of the motorcycle helmet are divided over four motorcycle helmet shells. The shape of the helmet shell has been specifically tested in wind tunnels to have the most optimal aerodynamic design. The spoiler in the back is a visual result of that and HJC guarantees that with this motorcycle helmet you get to use all of your motorcycle’s speedometer.
The (many) ventilation openings in the front stand out and ensure the sporty wearer of this full-face helmet of plenty of oxygen during their ride. The centralised chin ventilation has two settings. The mesh openings on the left and right also do their part and right above the transparent visor you can find ventilation opening number four, directly cooling the rider’s forehead. The double top ventilation has a very convenient mechanism that simplifies opening and closing it in a stunning and practical way. Even when closed, riding wind can slip in through the cavity (without entering the helmet shell), which prevents slack, upward draught and too much bothersome noise. In the back of the motorcycle helmet, there are two non-closable air outlets integrated into the rear spoiler, in order for the heated riding wind to find its way out. The ventilations and air outlets are internally connected by the ‘ACS’ system (Advanced Channelling Ventilation System). Those integrated air channels in the inner shell are what distribute fresh air over the rider’s entire head.
The HJC RPHA-12 comes standard with a transparent visor and there’s a second, ‘smoked’ one right there in the box that’s darker. Scratch-resistant, Pinlock® ready, which is quite evident for a motorcycle helmet of this calibre. The Pinlock® lens is also delivered in the box.
Thanks to the RapidFire Shield Replacement System the visor can be replaced easily and without the use of tools, which is very practical here. The tinted as well as the transparent visor have been developed to create a wider peripheral vision and the locked visor warrants a proper, tight connection to the motorcycle helmet. Flipping the visor all the way up will give you a distinct ‘click’ into place. It’s well-built, that’s for sure.
Full-face helmets that dare to test speedometers obviously have a Double-D ring closure – the only kind allowed for track use. In this case, the closure is attached to the end of a comfortable chin strap. In case of an emergency, the emergency services will be able to better assess the situation and if needed, remove the motorcycle helmet with ease thanks to the Emergency Kit Cheek Pads.
The interior of the RPHA-12 is made of a washable, antibacterial, moisture-wicking, temperature regulating fabric that drains perspiration and prevents unpleasant odours. The interior is removable and hand-washable.
The wind curtain chin and the breath deflector are part of the standard supply, just like the Pinlock®-lens. They all help increase comfort.
Thanks to clever cutouts, glass-wearers will happily find their way to the HJC RPHA-12.

Maintenance tips:
- Are you reluctant to disassemble the interior of your helmet in order to wash it? You can also clean the interior without removing it with S100 Helmet Interior Cleaner.
- The outside and the visor of your helmet should be cleaned with S100 Helmet and visor Cleaner.
Safety above all! Never ride with a scratched or dull visor. Especially at night, scratches cause blinding reflections of street lights and headlights of oncoming vehicles. This effect is even more pronounced in rainy weather. It is best to replace a worn visor as soon as possible. Planning a long trip? Then don't forget to take a replacement visor with you. Never ride in the dark with a tinted visor.
