These are summer gloves with a clear focus on ventilation and with an adventurous style. The comfort and cut were updated compared to the previous versions of this excellent motorcycle glove. The Sand 5 comes with a pedigree, that’s for sure.
They are not waterproof, these ventilated Sand 5 motorcycle gloves – they are light and breathing, though. There’s a waterproof version called the Sand 5 H2O motorcycle glove but this is clearly the version made for summer and aimed for adventure.
Bring on those sunny days; possibly with a little exploration, because these Sand 5 motorcycle gloves don’t hide the fact that they can take a beating. Temperfoam on the (injected, ventilated, flexible) knuckle protector, a hard TPR thumb slider and equally hard TPR palm slider, injected TPR finger protection, a PWR Shield in the palm of the hand … It is quite a long and impressive list, all of which is merely added to all the hardwearing mesh and stretch materials that form the exterior, together with loads of goatskin as main ingredient.
They are not particularly long, although not many motorcycle riders will complain about ‘bare’ wrists in summer. You can accurately adjust the fit at the wrist by means of a wide Velcro strip.
Subtle ventilation, lots of stretch, an index finger that can operate any touchscreen and the all-round appearance of a seasoned yet very summer-oriented adventurer, these motorcycle gloves match the Sand 5 H2O motorcycle jackets and trousers both in style and in function.
