There’s ‘Sportswear’ circling the REV’IT! logo on the sleeve of this waterproof Altair H2O motorcycle jacket. We are on a crossroads of motorcycle gear and adventurous sports – visually and functionally as well.
The exterior of the Altair H2O motorcycle jacket is integrally made of 3L softshell, which creates a very individualistic – and special – energy. Nobody is going to look at you funny when you wear the Altair H2O and hop on a snowboard instead of a motorcycle. The Altair H2O’s style and cut are to blame: it strongly resembles an anorak. Kangaroo pouch and all. However, don’t be mistaken: the left zip goes all the way down, and it goes down smoothly when you use the dual press studs that ‘guide’ the motorcycle jacket in proper formation. The smaller, upper kangaroo pouch is actually a ventilation opening that stays in hiding until you use it.
So, a sportswear appearance with the functionalities of a motorcycle jacket – right. The softshell is complemented with a waterproof Hydratex|G-Liner with water outlet grooves behind the zips, the latter being clearly water-repellent on their own. The result is a light, sporty and rather unique motorcycle jacket with a fairly loose fit – for a motorcycle jacket. The odds of you going around a racetrack wearing the Altair H2O motorcycle jacket are relatively low. This was not made for that.
You could, though. SEESMART Level 1 CE protectors on the shoulders and elbows come standard. If you want to, you can optionally fit in a SEESOFT CE level 2 back protector.
In the case of the Altair H2O motorcycle jacket, the hood is a fixed element. You can affix it with a press stud. Individual customisation is limited as this should – nay, must – keep its naturally loose fit, so with a couple of Velcro strips on the sleeves, you’ll get it where you want it. Right above that, you’ll find ventilation openings. Incoming air leaves the Altair H2O at the back, providing a cooling effect. The membrane is non-removable. There are no extra linings. All this limits the Altair H2O’s usability. High-summer is not its forte, nor is the coldest winter day. Everything in-between could be an option, definitely in a city context and with loads of space for your own layer of clothing.
The Altair H2O motorcycle jacket is a sporty, technically ingenuine, urban motorcycle jacket, where ‘sportswear meets motorcycle wear’.
With the connecting zip – and especially with the two belt loops – you can connect this motorcycle jacket to motorcycle jeans or textile REV’IT! motorcycle trousers if you are going for the complete look.
