The Nuclea is sold without power supply.
Macna is an expert in electrically heated motorcycle clothing. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that this electrically heated Nuclea wraps itself around your upper body like a warm, insulated blanket, creating a very comfortable and warm atmosphere.
The Nuclea is a jacket with a nice finish. One of the main components is silk taffeta, which provides a shiny look. It’s also thin, smooth and lightweight. The fine ripstop fibre texture is made from nylon, making the construction stronger and better resistant against rips and tears.
Thanks to the visual finish, you can decide to wear the Nuclea autonomously or use the handy loops and push buttons for the normal thermal lining that’s compatible with a lot of motorcycle jackets. When a motorcycle jacket is equipped to fit the Macna system, it says Thermax prepared.
The fact that the Nuclea is a stand-alone heated jacket is shown by the presence of two slash pockets with zip. The central zip and tight fit also prove that you don’t always need to hide the Nuclea underneath many other layers.
To make sure your upper body is sufficiently and evenly heated, the Nuclea uses Macna’s Powervein wiring. Twenty years and systematically improved over the years, this dense wiring at the front, back, arms and inside the collar provide an all-round enjoyable environment.
The Dual Power Technology by Macna allows you to choose between a 7.4 and a 12 Volt power supply, powered by a separate battery inside the jacket or through a cable running directly from your motorcycle battery. This heated jacket consumes 3.4 Amps at most.
Both options are sold separately. The loose battery can be a 7.4V or a 12V Li-Po type. Attention, these are NOT the same ones as used in the Macna motorcycle gloves. A 12V-battery has a higher performance in colder weather conditions but doesn’t last as long. The 7.4V-battery will last longer but give out less heat. A lot depends on your favourite heat setting.
If you opt for the cabled solution, then you’ll need two cables: a power cable (directly from the motorcycle battery, via a DIN plug (BMW) or a 12-V cigarette plug) and a spiral extension cable. You’ll need a splitter cable if you also want to plug in your heated motorcycle trousers. Connectors at the sleeve ends make it very ease for the Nuclea to provide power to the heated Macna motorcycle gloves.
There are four heating levels, each indicated in their own colour by means of the Power Controller. This controller is situated at your chest, tells you how much power you have left and allows you to change the level by simply pressing it.

The Nuclea is Bluetooth connected and can be controlled with the Macna HEATED-app (Android and iOS compatible). Attention: upon installing the app, it will request location permission. If you refuse, there might be connection issues between the app and the garment. If you prefer less Bluetooth connectivity, then you can also use the Nuclea with the traditional button.
Seen as there are electronic parts inside these motorcycle gloves, it’s evident that it can’t be washed in the washing machine. It’s okay to wash by hand, on condition that you hand-dry the connectors with a hair blower afterwards.
