The Polar 3 by HELD, lined with 3M Thinsulate are waterproof motorcycle gloves that combine leather with stretch. Complemented by lots of protective material, you can wear these to ride all the way up to winter and maybe even through it.
The back of the Polar 3 – exactly, this isn’t the first version – contains a lot of stretch, which makes sense because when your fingers fold around the handlebars, this is the area that needs to be able to stretch the most. In other words, this efficient construction enhances comfort and flexibility. HELD didn’t want to compromise in the field of safety and therefore chose to go with more than enough leather surface. The transition between both materials is smooth with accordion areas that also provide a few millimetres of added comfort.
The leather on the back of the hand also hides the D3O knuckle protector, which is just as flexible as the rest of the Polar 3, so don’t expect any rigid elements here. ‘Go with the flow’ is probably often the best solution in winter. The Temperfoam protection on the fingers totally agrees with that statement.
Internally, the star of the show is the Sympatex membrane, providing waterproofness, windtightness and breathability. The visor wiper on the left index finger once again emphasises that rain shouldn’t be a problem when you’re travelling with the Polar 3 motorcycle gloves. Also no problem is using your smartphone or GPS screen, thanks to the special conductive technology that HELD calls NUDUD.
Leather is always a good decision in the palm of the hand. Grip, protection, feedback... it has it all. Reinforcement in the palm is provided by a dual layer of leather, where needed supplemented with foam.
The Polar 3 is a mid-length motorcycle glove. You can choose to wear the cuff over or inside the sleeve of your motorcycle jacket. A slender Velcro closure on the wrist and a broad one on the cuff make sure that everything stays neatly in place.
