This helmet comes standard with a clear visor. Tinted and mirrored visors are available as options.
The SCORPION EXO-391 is a new full-face helmet that initially stands out due to its razor-sharp price. Don’t confuse ‘razor-sharp’ with ‘cheap’: that doesn’t apply to this accommodating motorcycle helmet at all.
With an ECE R22.06 certification and a number of options in design, the SCORPION EXO-391 is a motorcycle helmet that can always be included in the list of options.
The helmet shell of the SCORPION EXO-391 comes from the injection moulding machine (polycarbonate) and two helmet shell sizes contain all available helmet sizes – to keep it as compact as possible. Nonetheless, the streamlined, almost drop-shaped motorcycle helmet is no lightweight, showing almost 1,750 gr. on the scale. That’s hefty for a motorcycle helmet without integrated sun visor but SCORPION manages to tip the scale with regard to price tag and the rest of the price-to-quality ratio.
The missing sun visor shouldn’t have to be an obstacle at all: the number of available alternatives stays in the single digits and goes from transparent and smoke to dark and mirrored in many colours. Changing the visors is perfectly possible without tools and takes only a few seconds. Okay, you do need to pull over and that’s just about it. In exchange, you get a wide field of vision, a close-fitting visor with central lock and the option to add a Pinlock® 100% Max Vision® lens. Not bad, not bad at all.
Underneath the central lock is the single chin ventilation that you open and close with a slider. The same principle is applied to the top ventilation that allows riding wind to pass through both ventilation openings and to leave out the back – underneath the spoiler, in the drop – of the motorcycle helmet. What is left is a refreshed head. The KwikWick® antimicrobial fabric of the interior gives a helping hand in creating a pleasant and well-fitting inner climate in all circumstances. Thanks to the Kwikfit™ cheek pads, you can wear your glasses without issue.
At the bottom you’ll notice the emergency release system and although we’d prefer to never have to use it, it’s nice to know that SCORPION has incorporated it. The micrometric closure is also of the kind to be attached and detached in one single movement.
The French motorcycle helmet manufacturer calls the SCORPION EXO-391 a strong, safe and very reasonably priced motorcycle helmet that will exceed all expectations. With a wind curtain chin, the breath deflector, the 22.06 certification and its sturdy appearance, this could even be close to the truth.
For maintenance of this helmet we recommend S100 helmet and visor cleaner for the outside. For cleaning the interior, without removing it, you can use S100 helmet interior cleaner. New visors have received a water-repellent treatment. This treatment is less effective after some time. Restore the water-repellent effect with Rain-X anti-rain spray.
Safety above all! Never ride with a scratched or dull visor. Especially at night, scratches cause blinding reflections from streetlights and headlights of oncoming vehicles. This effect is even more pronounced in rainy weather. It is best to replace a scratched or dull visor as soon as possible. Planning a longer trip? Then don't forget to take a replacement visor with you. Never ride in the dark with a tinted visor.
