The Ridill 2 is a ECE 22.06 certified motorcycle helmet that complies with the most recent motorcycle helmet certification and that switches owner for a rather absurd price. Despite the sharp entry model attitude, you can count on a number of interesting and high-quality features. If you are familiar with the original Ridill, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the innovations.
Please note! Contrary to the product image, this helmet comes with a clear visor. The pictured tinted visors are available separately.
The polycarbonate helmet shell that has been injected with Lexan™ comes in two sizes, that neatly divided among them contain the different helmet sizes. Underneath the solid outer shell, Shark inserts a sturdy EPS padding, delivering numbers that dance around 1500 grams on the scale. Heavy? Well, the new ECE 22.06 certification seems to add a little weight to motorcycle helmets. It doesn’t take anything away from the compact, aerodynamic shape of the Ridill 2, though, that even has an integrated sun visor on board.
The line pattern is nice. Not too sharp, not too prominent, just like it should be on a motorcycle helmet. The transparent visor was given a central closure and bears the description ‘scratch-resistant, class 1, can take a hit and ready to fit a Pinlock® 70-lens’. The latter can be ordered separately as an option, something that shouldn’t surprise in this price category. The patented hinge looks a bit like a (French) clock and allows you to change visors faster than underwear. And in both cases, no tools are required.
Enough about the visor, you think, and then you discover the integrated sun visor. Once again, anti-scratch and anti-fog, and even with motorcycle gloves on easy to operate thanks to the central slider at the top.
The top and chin ventilation are easily accessible and simply open or close. The airstream entering through the top ventilation is dispersed by the integrated air channels in the inner shell.
The comfortable lining is also up to scratch. Washable, removable, comfortable… These are all good qualities and the cut-outs in the interior at the temples make this motorcycle helmet very suitable for glasses-wearers. The patented way in which the interior is attached to the motorcycle helmet – and detached – allows for a ‘best fit’. In a motorcycle helmet, the best-fitting model is always preferred.
The motorcycle helmet is closed with a micrometric closure that can be adjusted very accurately.
A wind curtain chin does not come standard but can be ordered separately. The box does include the reflective stickers required in France to apply to your helmet.
For maintenance of this helmet, we recommend S100 helmet and visor cleaner for the outside. For cleaning the interior without removing it, you can use S100 helmet interior cleaner. A treatment on the outside of the visor with Rain-X anti-rain spray improves visibility during rain.
Safety above all! Never ride with a scratched or dull visor. Especially at night scratches cause a blinding reflection of streetlights and headlights of oncoming vehicles. This effect is even more pronounced in rainy weather. It is best to replace a scratched or dull visor as soon as possible. Planning a long trip? Then don't forget to take a replacement visor with you. Never ride in the dark with a tinted visor.
