Bowtex has designed these Elite Leggings Ladies V2 CE AAA to be worn either on their own or as a protective base layer under (any) other clothing. In this second version, there is less stretch, and the fit has been slightly adjusted. The waist has been reworked (now featuring a drawstring), and – though less visible – the seams have been reinforced for even greater strength.
Even in this updated version, these leggings remain the absolute pinnacle of motorcycle safety gear. The AAA certification is typically reserved for leather motorcycle suits and trousers, making it truly exceptional for such a – in comparison – lightweight textile garment to be awarded this AAA classification.
The reason is clear: this is more than just fabric. The Bowtex Elite Leggings Ladies V2 CE AAA are made of 32% Dyneema® and 68% Nylon. Dyneema® not only provides protection but also has excellent thermal conductivity, resulting in a soft (and naturally cool) feel. The original version had a bit too much stretch, sometimes making sizing inconsistent. With this second-generation Elite CE AAA, you can rely on the sizing chart for an accurate fit. Reinforced flatlock seams with a tensile strength of 12.9N/mm hold everything together – extremely strong yet lightweight and breathable, with added thermal properties. That sounds like a decent summary.
We wouldn’t personally recommend wearing shorts over them, though you could. From a style perspective, we prefer a clean look – or better yet, wearing the Elite Leggings Ladies V2 CE AAA as a base layer. Some have compared Bowtex gear to pyjama trousers, but the Elite V2 CE AAA combines unparalleled comfort with top-tier safety. The Bowtex founders even go as far as dragging themselves behind a motorcycle on a rope to test their gear’s wear and tear-resistance – though, of course, an independent lab officially verifies the certification.
The Elite Leggings Ladies V2 CE AAA is an incredibly versatile addition to any rider’s gear. Whether worn as a protective base layer or as a standalone piece, its wear-resistance is unquestionable – and the same goes for its comfort. The X-Panel 3D construction allows for exceptional freedom of movement. It is highly breathable, but not waterproof, so that’s something (or the only thing) to keep in mind. However, simply wearing a pair of waterproof over-trousers solves that issue while keeping you safe on the road.
It does take a little getting used to, we admit. If you wear the Elite Leggings Ladies V2 CE AAA as your sole motorcycle trousers, you might feel like you’re missing something – but that’s just psychological. Motorcyclists either layer up or go for maximum airflow – this is neither. It’s a single layer that does it all. The built-in SAS-TEC® TRIPLEFLEX impact protection is flexible and ultra-light, offering more than pyjamas but not much more in terms of feel. Yet, make no mistake – these motorcycle trousers come standard with hip and knee protectors.
They are lightweight, flexible, easy to wear, and well-finished. The drawstring waistband and optional heel strap make them simple to put on. And yet, this is full-fledged motorcycle gear – high-tech, comfortable, and versatile enough for everyday wear. Over a year, that works out to less than a euro per day.
Even maintenance is easy: wash at 30°C occasionally and air dry (out of direct sunlight). Just remember to remove the protectors beforehand.
